I almost couldn't bear to keep going.

Dave Eggers is funny and gimmicky and whatnot, but the first 50 pages of A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius is possibly some of the most painful things I've ever had to endure reading. In a good way, in a, I-was-cringing-from-graphic-content-and-emotional-turmoil way.

But anyway.

I like the first half of the book the best.

The first half (actually, probably the first third) is the best. The rest is good, but doesn't measure up to the beginning.
